China's "Super Singles Day"

November 11th is significant to single males as it's normally celebrated as Bachelor's Day. I've never heard of it before until I came across this BBC News article, China marks 'Super Singles Day' with marriage rush. Because it's 11-11-11 today, it's even more important for couples getting married in China, as mentioned in the article, more than 3,000 couples are registered to get married in Shanghai.
Elsewhere, I think people just thought it was something memorable to get married on 11-11-11 11:11, like these couples in Vegas.
