Ensemble Avalon is a fresh and dynamic piano trio featuring three of Ireland's finest internationally accomplished soloists and chamber musicians. Since their inaugural concert together in the summer of 2006 the trio have performed concerts, tours and series in Ireland, Italy and UK and enjoy regular broadcasts on radio and television. Originating from both Northern and Southern Ireland, all three members are 1st-class honours laureates of prestigious colleges, they have studied intensively in Ireland, the UK, France and the US between them and currently live in three different countries. The three members of Ensemble Avalon each enjoy an active solo and chamber career and they have created Ensemble Avalon as a means to discovering and performing new and existing piano trio repertoire together.
Ensemble Avalon Trinity College Residency.
Ensemble Avalon are taking part in a three-year-long residency in Trinity College from 2011-2014. The project is a collaboration between Trinity College Music Department, Ensemble Avalon and the Sundays at Noon Concert Series at the Hugh Lane Gallery. The aim of the project is to provide Trinity College with a much needed in-house, professional chamber music group for the benefit of the students, and to develop new relationships beyond Trinity through outreach educational elements and a regular public concert series. This will be the first residency of it's kind in the history of the university. Ensemble Avalon and the Music Department of Trinity College orchestrated a pilot project in the spring semester 2009, which involved three visits to the university, as well as a concert series in the Hugh Lane Gallery. The project was a great success from both Ensemble Avalon’s and the students’ perspective. The full time residency commenced in January 2011, with funding kindly provided by chief corporate sponsor Allied Pension Trustees.
